On 27th August the South Sector Community Planning Partnership approved £68,525 to support youth services in Govanhill for the remainder of the 2019/20 financial year.  The Glasgow South Youth Partnership are calling on applications for these funds. Applications should be led by an organisation who operate in Govanhill and who sit on the Govanhill Youth Network Steering group.

Background to the 2019/20 allocation

The 2019/20 IGF budget will again be allocated in an open and transparent manner and that the Glasgow South Youth Partnership will oversee this process. 

The Glasgow South Youth Partnership (GSYP) was established in 2018 following the merger of the previous South Youth Partnership with the South Youth Health and Wellbeing Forum. 

Programmes

The GSYP is therefore inviting applications for the following programmes:

(a) Local Youth Budgeting Programme  - young people will be encouraged to design small programmes or events.  Young people will also agree which programmes will be funded through a participatory budgeting process.

We are seeking an organisation or consortium of organisations to support local young people host an event in partnership with the SE Youthbank team where young people agree which programmes will be funded. A grant of £5,000 is available to meet these event costs and additional delivery costs. The successful applicant will also hold the £5,525 Youthbank grant pot and be responsible for making payments to the eventual winners of the Youthbank process.  Total grant will therefore be £10,525.

(b) Youth Outreach and Engagement Programme - to connect with young people from across all backgrounds and experiences in Govanhill. The project will provide street-work and other outreach opportunities targeted at young people aged 14 - 18 who are not currently taking part in activities in the Govanhill area.  It will gather information from young people not currently involved in youth work, make connections with existing activities and provide support to engage in activities.

Bids are invited to the amount of £25,000. All applications should include at least one partner organisation who specialises in streetwork and outreach work.

(c) Youth Participatory Budget Programme - the programme will gather information on programmes that need support; organise and promote an event aimed at all young people aged 12-18 living, learning and working in Govanhill at which the programmes will be presented and funds allocated by the young people attending the event.

We are seeking an organisation or consortium of organisations to support the young people to host a participatory budgeting event and/or programme. £5,000 will be granted to the successful applicant to deliver the event/programme (for example, to meet additional staff costs, volunteer expenses and event costs) in addition to £15,000 which the successfully applicant will disperse to the eventual winners of the participatory budgeting process.  Total grant will therefore be £20,000.

(d) Small Grants Programme - to provide organisations with the resources needed to develop programmes which are structured and developmental; delivered to participants aged 12-18 and living, working or learning in Govanhill; include certification at the end of the programme (or contribute to an accredited programme); include young people working towards identified outcomes and record progress towards these outcomes.
