Anne Marie Hogan knows how to figure things out - she works as the financial controller for a leading traffic management company. So it's no surprise that when it comes to her personal savings, she places her trust in the Penilee Credit Union in Glasgow. Said Anne Marie, 41: "I'm a single parent with two kids. This provides me with a great way to save and give my children what they need - if not always what they want. "Now my kids have opened their own accounts. They recently dipped into their savings to buy me flowers on Mother's Day."
Rosena Hunter uses the credit union to save for holidays in her favourite haunt, Paignton in Devon. We've been taking our grandchildren for the past three years," said 57-year-old Rosena. "The credit union is the best way to prepare for it. I always pay off my loan before I take out another one."

Jim Stevenson admits to getting "a buzz" when he is able to help someone out financially. The manager of the Penilee Credit Union, supported by GCPP, says he has never turned anyone down yet. Said Jim, 62: "We are a bank with a heart. Our main purpose is to create thrift in the community and to stop people being sucked in by loan sharks."
