Glasgow cheered its champions as we crowned the City's overall Community Champions for 2009/2010.
More than 400 invited guests and winners attended the Grand Final event at the City Chambers on 6th October 2010, to find the overall Community Champions across the City.
Over the past year, 63 individuals winners awards were handed out across ten local events, to recognise the hard work and contributions made to communities by local people and organisations.
The Champion of Champions event crowned the overall winners from across Glasgow, in seven categories.
The awards, sponsored by the Evening Times and supported by the Glasgow Community Planning Partnership, were presented to the following persons or groups:
individual award - Hassan Shahid
team award - Lodging House Mission
public service individual award - Hugh Reilly
public service team award - jointly awarded to Strathclyde Fire & Rescue North East and Family Early Intervention Unit
senior award - Grace Donald
young champion team award - Langside Youth Connection
young champion individual award - Eva Bland

Finally, a special accolade was made to Royal Strathclyde Blindcraft Industries, who were previous local winners of the public service team award. Lord Provost presented them with his special award for Community Service.
Praising all the winners and nominees, Evening Times Editor Tony Carlin said "tonight is an opportunity to honour those individuals and groups who selflessly work to make Glasgow a better place."
