Consultation events looking at the progress being made on the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games, its transport arrangements and environmental commitments, as well as plans for the legacy to be left by the Games, will take place at five centres across the city between 9 February - 17 March.
The events will be
open to members of the public and community groups. Councillor Archie Graham, Executive Member for the Commonwealth Games at Glasgow City Council, will be hosting the events.
An overview of the Glasgow 2014 Transport Strategic Plan - and the opportunity to provide feedback on it - will be presented at the events, as well as two short films giving an update on the progress of Games’ venues and legacy plans.
Details on how local communities can become involved in legacy projects will also be made available, and the Strategic Environmental Assessment and Sustainability Plan for the Games will also be discussed.
Local issues will be raised and discussed at each of the events, and the events will close with a feedback session looking at the outcomes from the June 2010 public consultation events.
The events will take place in the following venues:
- South West Glasgow - Wednesday 9 February, 5 - 7pm in Palace of Art, Bellahouston Park,16 Dumbreck Road, Glasgow G41 5BW

Councillor Archie Graham, Executive Member for the Commonwealth Games at Glasgow City Council, said: "These sessions will show how much progress has been made in preparing for the Games, and allow local people and groups to find out how their community is already benefiting, and how they can become involved in legacy projects. The Games are already making an impact on the city, and I would urge as many people as possible to come along to discover our plans for the next few years, and let us know their views."
John Scott, Chief Executive of Glasgow 2014, said: "Involving and consulting with the people of Glasgow is essential to ensure that these plans are in tune with what people hope for the Games, and how the benefits of the Games can benefit the people of Glasgow. With that in mind, I hope that all those interested come along to see what is happening both locally and around the city as we prepare for the Games to come to our city."
There will also be an event in the City Chambers on 17 March, where the city’s Interaction Ambassadors (12 young people who represented Glasgow in Delhi during the Delhi 2010 Commonwealth Games) will meet with the Glasgow Student Council (a body featuring 60 pupils who represent Glasgow’s primary and secondary schools) to talk about how young people can participate in preparations for the Games.
