The West area is an aggregation of the Council wards of Drumchapel/Annielsand and Gascadden/Scotstounhill. It includes many distinct communities including Drumchapel, Blairdardie, Temple, Anniesland, Knightswood, Yoker and Scotstoun. The population of the entire area is 58,300, or 10% of the total city population. This makes it one of the larger local CPP in the City by population size.
 
Together with the Central & West local CPP, it forms the larger West Strategic Planning area. The West area is served locally by a dedicated team of support staff from the Community Planning section of Glasgow City Council.
