The City Building Construction Academy Apprenticeship Programme aims to provide a four year apprenticeship training programme in joinery, painting and plumbing for 47 youth people aged 16 - 19 years old from across Glasgow. Following a competive recruitment process, 5 local young people from the West and 5 local young people from the Central & West Local Community Planning Partnership Area successfully secured an apprenticeship with City Building that aims to teach the full craft skills.

The Programme is delivered at City Building's Construction Skills Academy and includes:

• a two week induction period;
• the development of softer employability skills required of all apprentices;
• vocational and core skills development up to SVQ Level 3;
• onsite technical training;
• planned programme of work experience in different types of work;
• raising awareness of employment and learning opportunities;and
• a healthy living course in partnership with Glasgow Metropolitan College, Celtic and Rangers Football clubs.
