YSpeak!

YSpeak is the Young Person’s Community Reference Group for South West Glasgow. YSpeak was formed in 2009, after a series of roadshows and a major consultation event for young people.

YSpeak’s aim to represent the views of young people in the South West to those who make decisions about what happens to young people now and in the future.

A number of young people have signed up for the Young Citizens Panel, which means that they are prepared to be involved in any consultation events.

The young people in YSpeak have spent time forming themselves into a group, through a number of team building sessions led by CSG staff.

The young people involved in Y Speak have completed a Committee Skills training course, which has enabled them to understand, how meetings function and how they can make effective contributions to meetings. This process has been completed with the election of their committee.

The group meet every two weeks at Rosshall Academy between 6pm and 9pm and always welcome new young people who are interested in having their say in their local communities.

The young people have been involved recently in consultation events with the Community Planning Partnership and the Community Health and Care Partnership.

YSpeak is supported financially by the Community Planning partnership and receives regular support and advice from the Youth Services section of Culture and Sport Glasgow.

If any young people are interested in becoming involved they should contact the YSpeak Chairperson on yspeak-chair@gmx.com
