The Pollokshields & Southside Central area is an aggregation of the Council wards of Pollokshields and Southside Central. It includes many distinct communities including Pollokshields, Shawlands, Strathbungo, Govanhill, Toryglen, and Greater Gorbals. The population of the entire area is just over 51,600, or 9% of the total city population. It is the smallest local CPP area in the City by area and one of the smallest by population.
 
Together with the Langside & Linn  local CPP, it forms the larger South East Strategic Planning area. The South East area is served locally by a dedicated team of support staff from the Community Planning section of Glasgow City Council.
