The Maryhill/Kelvin & Canal area is an aggregation of the Council wards of Maryhill/Kelvin and Canal. It includes many distinct communities including Maryhill, Summerston, Lambhill, Milton, Kelvindale, Kelvinside, Ruchill and Possil. The population of the entire area is over 56,000, or almost 10% of the total city total.
 
Together with the Glasgow North East local CPP, it forms the larger North Strategic Planning area. The North area is served locally by a dedicated team of support staff from the Community Planning section of Glasgow City Council.
