North Glasgow Environment Improvement Programme

This programme focuses on carrying out environmental improvements to areas of ground which are not maintained, lie derelict or vacant or can be improved by small scale work. The types of environmental improvements that have been carried out include:

  • Temporary greening such as the creation of wildflower meadows on derelict and vacant land;
  • Creating growing spaces where the local community can grow their own fruit and vegetables;
  • Improving path networks.

In carrying out this programme, partners work closely with the local community, other initiatives and each other in enhancing and improving the local environment.

The programme has enabled partners to work together in developing new partnerships and also develop a more efficient use of resources as well as allowing partners to develop a coherent plan to tackling the issue of vacant and derelict land within the North Glasgow strategic planning area.
