GLASGOW EAST ARTS COMPANY
Glasgow East Arts Company (GEAC) is based in The Bridge in Easterhouse and delivers a year round integrated programme of arts and events across Glasgow East in partnership with local projects and artists.
Some of the achievements this year include:
- The 'Starcatchers' project which is hosted by GEAC and involves a two year artist-in-residence programme which is focussing on work with children, early years and early interventions.
- The'Discover' element of the East area events programme which ties in with Doors Open weekend on 18 September and promotes local architecture, heritage and culture.
- The very successful 'Long Hot Days' summer events programme where over 15,000 leaflets were distributed and 23 local events were facilitated.
- The successful East End 5k event which saw 3,800 runners participating.
GEAC promotes its Local Links ticket scheme to ensure that cost is not a barrier to local people attending performances.
The project is also involved in organising an event in October for communities and groups that have committed to Glasgow East's Events Programm to celebrate the successes of the past year and to showcase the vibrancy in the East of Glasgow.
The project strives to ensure that arts and culture is accessible, affordable and enjoyable for residents of Glasgow East and beyond.
