Community Budgeting | Local Communities Decides
Glasgow Community Planning Partnership is committed to the promotion of Community Budgeting (also known as Participatory Budgeting). This is a process by which the public are encouraged to participate in decision making.
Glasgow Community Planning Partnership will be holding a series of Community Budgeting public engagement events to allocate some of our Area Budget funding for our Area Partnerships. These events also offer an opportunity for residents, community organisations, and partners to connect with each other and build community links.
An example of a Community Budgeting funded project is The ARC (After Recovery Community Project) who received £2,960.00 from Partick West Area Partnership in April 2016. The following video demonstrates the impact of this funding: https://youtu.be/yKAvmqFQfdc

2016 Pilots
In April 2016 Glasgow Community Planning Partnership carried out a series of Community Budgeting public engagement events to allocate some of our Area Budget funding for our 21 Area Partnerships. 21 Community Budgeting public engagement events were held with funds provided by Glasgow City Council and match funded by the Scottish Government. This provided a total of £10,000 for each of Glasgow's 21 Area Partnerships for local communities to bid into. Following a call for proposals from local community groups/organisations for funding, through local public engagement Community Budgeting events were held where local residents voted to determine which proposals are funded, and therefore allocate funding to local communities in Glasgow. Organisations who submitted proposals and were eligible to proceed to their local Community Budgeting event were offered additional support about how best to pitch their ideas to the public. Final decisions on which organisations were awarded funding were made following a vote by the public on the day of their local Community Budgeting event.
Details of all successful proposals can be found at this link, and a list of all events dates, times, and venues, can be found here: Community Budgeting Events Dates Times Venues [191kb]
