The Community Policing initiative is designed to tackle crime and community safety issues by investing in local community policing that both engages and works with communities to quickly and effectively deal with local concerns. Community Policing teams have been established across all ten local Community Planning areas to provide a highly visible presence in neighbourhoods, focusing on tackling violence, 'signal' crimes, and disorder.
The Community Planning Partnership has invested £3.2 million for 2010/11 in the initiative, with Strathclyde Police investing a further £1.6 million.
The initiative provides an additional ten police officers within each local CPP, and also establishes locally based community orientated policing teams.
